Using the service

You may use Hidden Character Detector for lawful personal, educational, editorial, research, and development work. You are responsible for the text you choose to inspect and for checking that any cleanup is appropriate for the language, document, and system where you plan to use it.

Free limits

Guests may run up to three checks per day with 1,000 Unicode characters per check. Signed-in Free accounts may run up to 10 checks per day with 3,000 characters per check. Active Pro subscriptions support up to 100,000 characters per check without the free daily cap. Daily usage records are intended to manage normal use, and we may adjust limits as the service changes.

Paid plans and billing

Current plan prices, included credits, character limits, and other benefits are shown on the pricing page before checkout. Prices are displayed in USD unless the checkout page states otherwise. Subscription plans are recurring charges for each monthly billing period and may renew automatically until you cancel them. One-time credit packs are charged once and do not automatically renew. A paid entitlement is associated with the account used to complete checkout and is activated after the payment provider confirms the transaction.

Refunds and cancellation

You may cancel an active subscription from the account area or by contacting support@hiddencharacterdetector.app. Cancellation stops future renewals; it normally does not end access before the current paid period expires. One-time credit packs do not renew. Refund eligibility, including the treatment of used credits and duplicate or failed payments, is described in our Refund Policy, which forms part of these terms.

Results and limitations

The detector uses an explicit list of Unicode definitions. A character that is not on that list may not be reported. A reported character may be legitimate in multilingual, typographic, or file-encoding contexts. The service does not determine authorship, identify AI-generated text, prove a watermark, or provide legal, academic-integrity, security, or forensic conclusions.

Cleaning responsibility

Remove All creates a transformed copy. It removes selected zero-width and formatting controls, normalizes selected Unicode spaces to regular spaces, and normalizes line separators to line breaks. Review the output before publishing, storing, or sending it. Keep the original when the source may require an exact record.

Imported files and OCR

You are responsible for having the right to inspect any file or image you choose to import. File extraction and image OCR are convenience features and may omit formatting, document elements, or text that cannot be read reliably. OCR extracts visible text only; it does not prove that an image contains or does not contain invisible Unicode characters. Review imported text and the cleaned result before relying on it.

Disclaimers and limitation of liability

Hidden Character Detector is provided on an as-is and as-available basis. We do not guarantee that every hidden character will be detected, that a cleaned result will be suitable for a particular document or system, or that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or permanently available. The detector is not a substitute for professional legal, academic-integrity, security, forensic, editorial, or technical advice.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Hidden Character Detector and its service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or loss-of-data damages arising from your use of the service or reliance on a result. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

Acceptable use

You must not use the service to violate law, rights, privacy, or the security of another person or system. You must not overload the service, automate abusive traffic, attempt to bypass infrastructure protections, or misrepresent the result as proof of a person's identity, intent, or authorship.

Your responsibility for violations

You are responsible for the text you submit, the way you use the results, and any claim, loss, damage, cost, or expense caused by your unlawful use of the service, infringement of another person's rights, fraud, abuse, or violation of these terms. You must cooperate with reasonable investigations into suspected misuse and stop the activity when requested.

Suspension, termination, and account closure

We may limit, suspend, or terminate access when reasonably necessary to address a breach of these terms, abusive or fraudulent activity, payment disputes, security risks, legal requirements, or a threat to the service or other users. We may also discontinue or materially change the service. If access is suspended or terminated because of your violation, you remain responsible for obligations that arose before termination and are not automatically entitled to a refund. You may stop using the free service at any time. Account closure and deletion requests are handled as described in the Privacy Policy; active subscriptions must be canceled before an account can be deleted.

Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the applicable laws of the jurisdiction where the operator of Hidden Character Detector is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Subject to any mandatory consumer-protection rights, disputes will be handled by the courts that have jurisdiction over that location. If a mandatory law gives you a different forum or protection, that law will apply to the extent required.

Availability and changes

The service is provided on an evolving basis. Features may be changed, limited, or temporarily unavailable. Paid plans are shown on the pricing page; a paid entitlement is created only after the payment provider confirms the transaction.
